Investing in the integral development of Nicaraguan children and youth, through the promotion of sport, the Mayor's Office of the Citizen Power of Managua inaugurated the first chess academy in our capital city.
The academy was inaugurated by the Vice Mayor of Managua, Enrique Armas Rosales and Mr. Martín Guevara, a member of the Nicaraguan chess hall of fame; This Chess Academy will be located in the Alexis Argüello Sports Center, where classes will be taught from Monday to Friday, starting at 4:00 in the afternoon, to children and young people in an age range between 8 and 17 years old.
This initiative, directed by Commander Daniel and comrade Rosario Murillo, is part of the support and interest of the Good Government in the practice of chess, which since 2015 has been incorporating it as a pedagogical tool in primary and secondary schools. that has generated better results in subjects, where memory, concentration and discipline are used, the main characteristics that a good chess player must meet.
Classes at this academy will be led by experienced instructors, including Lester Jiménez, the first amateur continental champion from Nicaragua and the first to qualify for an amateur world championship in 2019; It is important to note that the classes at this academy are completely free for all those who want to learn about this sport.
