Sixth Basketball Tournament "Carlos Ulloa in Memoriam" Starts

With the participation of 20 teams from different municipalities in the country, the sixth edition of the “Carlos Ulloa in Memoriam” Men's Basketball Tournament began this Saturday, February 20, at the Alexis Argüello Sports Center.

The Indigenous people of Matagalpa are the defending champions of Ulloa, after defeating San Isidro in the final of 2020 and for this edition of the tournament will have as challengers to the title teams such as Leones de la Alcaldía de Managua, Real Estelí Basket, Las Brumas de Jinotega and Los Capitanes, the latter, a new debutant team in this national championship.

Carlos Ulloa is the tournament with the largest number of participating teams in Nicaragua, which will once again last for three months and will be played in 17 venues.

“For the first time 20 teams participate in the Carlos Ulloa in Memoriam Tournament, there are 60 new players under 17 years of age integrated into the different teams, it is a tournament from which we have already seen the first fruits with some players who were in the Superior League of Basketball ”, said Noel González, Sports Director of the Municipality.

On this occasion, among the teams that will participate in Ulloa 2021 will be: Indigenous people from San Isidro, Real Estelí, Tigres de Chinandega, León, Leones de la Mayo de Managua, Bonanza, Frente Sur de Rivas, Matagalpa, Brumas de Jinotega, Tipitapa, Boaco, among others.

The final of the Tournament is scheduled for the month of May and the games will be broadcast online, publishing the results immediately.
