With an excellent participation of students, this February 1, the Mayor's Office of the Citizen Power of Managua inaugurated classes at the Basketball Academy for this year 2021.

This basketball academy, run by the Municipality, opened at the beginning of May 2013 in the main courts of the Luis Alfonso Velásquez Flores park, for boys and girls from 6 to 17 years old, it has the category of Mini basketball, catwalk, youth and female and with the participation of nine level coaches, such as one of the Nicaraguan legends in this discipline Noel Mckenzie and Katy Contreras, who last year became the first coach to win a game in Nicaragua in the highest category in the League. The school has approximately 130 boys and girls who practice this sport, which in recent years has raised the level and has given many successes to this Nicaraguan discipline, such as reaching the quarterfinals of the Basketball Champions League Las Americas, where Real Estelí It was the revelation team of the tournament reaching that stage.

"We have more than 100 young people who come every afternoon to receive these basketball classes with excellent teachers who are coaches of professional teams, and they are taught completely free of charge," commented the Director of Sports for the Mayor's Office of Managua, colleague Noel González.
