Capital commune opens activities in its Taekwondo academies

With great joy and desire to learn, on the afternoon of this Wednesday 13, Taekwondo classes officially began at the “Leones Azules” Academy of the Mayor's Office of the Citizen Power of Managua for the year 2021, at the Alexis Argüello and Roberto Huembes Sports Center.

“Athletes who belong to Los Leones Azules will receive their training sessions at the Alexis Argüello Sports Center from Monday to Friday from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm, children from 5 to 7 years old, from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm 8 to 10 years old and from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm from 11 years old and over ”, as confirmed by the Secretary of the City Council, Jennifer Porras.

He also reported that parallel to this training at Roberto Huembes, classes will take place from Monday to Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. for children from 5 to 10 years old, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. 12 or more. It is planned to open a new schedule in both academies on Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

It should be noted that the Alexis Argüello and Roberto Huembes Sports Center have a total enrollment of 130 athletes in both academies and to date a total of 15 more participants have been integrated.

"In this year 2021, the Taekwondo Academies of the Mayor's Office of Managua have as a goal or projection to classify the Major National Team, where 25 athletes will participate and it is expected that at least 15 of them will be from our academies" said the Sports Director of the commune, Noel González.

Another projection would be that the Academy "Leones Azules" will represent our country in the Central American games for intermediate schools from 12 to 14 years old, this event will take place in Panama.

Likewise, represent the academy and our country to obtain medals in the Central American event of the Caribbean, youth schoolchildren between 15 and 17 years old in Puerto Rico. Also, participate in the world deaf championship in Turkey.

It should be noted that belt change exams will be carried out every 3 months, to maintain the grades and level that corresponds to each athlete and thus put the name of Nicaragua and the Academy on high.
