The Mayor of Managua, Reyna Rueda Alvarado, together with the families of the capital, began this December 7, the date on which the Gritería celebrates in honor of the Virgin Mary, the Twelfth Edition of the Altars Contest, which is already part of the tradition and the fervor of Nicaraguan families.
“It is a privilege to have 200 sisters and brothers who have inscribed their altars, the number of which is increasing every year. We continue to commit ourselves to continue accompanying families in these types of events, this really brings families together. Above all, there is an outpouring of creativity, devotion and fervor to our Blessed Mother, ”said Mayor Rueda.
The contest will choose three finalists for each of the 7 districts of Managua, there will be 21 winners and the prize will be in cash, 10 thousand córdobas for the first place, 8 thousand for the second place and 6 thousand for the third place, in total it will be awarded in cash 168 thousand córdobas to the 21 winners.
Among the parameters of the contest that the qualifying jury will evaluate will be creativity, originality, content or biblical theme; In addition, the material used must be typical or traditional (strawberry tree, natural flowers of the time, palm, etc.).
“The whole family participates here, it is a 54-year tradition that we have been rescuing with our children, grandchildren and nephews. This contest motivates us to keep improving, having new ideas, good creativity ”, expressed William Hernández, one of the participants.
In the contest, 200 participants from the seven districts of the capital registered, who dedicated all their effort to the creativity of each Marian altar, demonstrating their love, faith and devotion to the Immaculate Conception.
