Promoting and motivating the practice of sport in the new generations, the Mayor of Managua carried out the University League of Men's and Women's Basketball with the participation of 10 teams.
The Polytechnic University of Nicaragua (UPOLI) was crowned champion after beating UNAN Managua with a score of 74-56 in the men's branch.
While in the female branch in a match worthy of a final, the National Agrarian University (UNA) defeated the Academy of the Mayor's Office of Managua 60-57 to take first place, the games of the finals were held in the Alexis Argüello Sports Center.
“We are concluding this Monday, November 19, the men's and women's basketball tournament organized by the Mayor's Office of Managua, the universities of the capital, other teams were invited, after two months we are concluding with the coronation of the Agrarian University team and UPOLI ”, said the mayor of the capital Enrique Armas.
The athletes said they were happy to be able to participate in this important activity for healthy recreation, thanking the Mayor of Managua for the support provided for the realization of this basketball league.
"Thanks to our Government for giving us the opportunity to participate in these disciplines and healthy recreation has always been a priority," said the best player in the Basketball League Ingrid Vallejos from the National Agrarian University.
Likewise, the MVP of the League was expressed in the male branch Geovani Serrano of the Polytechnic University of Nicaragua, UPOLI, "to thank God because we were champions and the Mayor of Managua for promoting these tournaments."
