This Tuesday, September 29, the 2020 University Basketball Championship was inaugurated, organized by the Mayor's Office of the Citizen Power of Managua in coordination with the Polytechnic University of Nicaragua (UPOLI), with the aim of promoting sport among Nicaraguan youth.
This basketball tournament was inaugurated by comrade Enrique Armas Rosales, Vice Mayor of Managua, who expressed the commitment of the Good Government to support the sport in its different disciplines.
Likewise, he expressed that 120 young athletes will participate in this event, coming from the National Agrarian University (UNA), UNAN Managua, UPOLI, Manuel Olivares Technological Institute and the Basketball Academy of the Mayor's Office of Managua, who will compete for 2 months, 2 times per week, all against all, in the university venues, the finalists will compete for the first places on the fields of the Alexis Argüello Sports Center.
For their part, the young athletes expressed their expectations with this basketball tournament, in which they will have all their efforts to reach first place, as expressed by the young Allison Castro of UPOLI, in the same way, the young David Cortez from UNAN Managua, who also thanked the Municipality and the universities for supporting the sport.
