V CONTEST "MEMORIES OF MY NEIGHBORHOOD"

The General Directorate of Human Development, through the Directorate of Culture and Historical Heritage ”of the Mayor's Office of Citizen Power, in greeting to the 169th anniversary of managuas, elevated to the Capital of Nicaragua on February 5, 1852 and to the 174th anniversary of having been elevated to City on July 24, 1846:

Summons the Managua to participate in the V CONTEST "MEMORIES OF MY NEIGHBORHOOD" from October 5, 2020 to February 5, 2021.

OBJECTIVE OF THE CONTEST:

The objective of the contest is to rescue and promote the history of the neighborhoods of Managua, told by its inhabitants, founders, and characters and share it with all the inhabitants of the city, to contribute to the strengthening of their own identity and their sense of belonging in their homeland.

INSCRIPTION: The participant must register from October 2 to 31 of the current year. In the Directorate of Culture and Historical Heritage of the Mayor's Office of Managua, in the Civic Center Module N or in the different municipal public libraries of Managua.

COMPETITION RULES

1) Although the topics addressed are free for the contestant, it is recommended to minimally address the following topics:

  • Origin of the neighborhood (date and year of foundation).
  • Founders of the neighborhood.
  • Historical aspects of the neighborhood
  • Ancient trees.
  • Tastes and customs.
  • Religious holidays
  • Recreational and sports activities
  • Myths and legends.
  • Picturesque characters.
  • Participation of the neighborhood in the revolutionary struggle.
  • Heroes and Martyrs of the neighborhood.
  • Photographs, relics and antiques.

2) Requirements:

  • Register with the Directorate of Culture and Historical Heritage of the Mayor's Office of Managua, Module N or in any of the municipal public libraries of Managua.
  • The work must have a minimum of 30 and a maximum of 50 pages, -including photographs, - letter size, written on a computer in Word Arial 12 or mechanical typewriter, at one and a half lines spacing.
  • The photographs must be inserted in the text according to the Theme and that they are from the neighborhood, whether old or modern, panoramic views of the neighborhood, emblematic houses, historical places in the neighborhood, photos of heroes and martyrs, etc.
  • For each neighborhood of Managua, two or more jobs may participate. In the event that only one job is involved in a neighborhood, it could be declared void, if the job does not meet the appropriate technical and methodological qualities.
  • Works from neighborhoods that are already part of the collection of memories published by the Mayor's Office of the Citizen Power of Managua will not be admitted. The works must be unpublished and on previously unpublished neighborhoods.

3) Methodology to be used by the participant:

  • Methodological support of the Directorate of Culture and Historical Heritage of the Mayor's Office of Managua, from the beginning until the end of the contest.
  • Participation in trainings, (Methodological Workshops), given by the Directorate of Culture and Historical Heritage of the Mayor's Office of Managua, through the public libraries of Managua.
  • The works will be delivered from January 2 to 18, 2021.
  • A qualifying jury will review the works and declare the winners by participating neighborhood. The announcement date of the contest winners will be February 5, 2021.
  • The winning works will be published digitally and in print. The digital form will be published on March 24, 2021 and the printed form will be published on July 24, 2021.

4) STIMULUS:

Only one first place per neighborhood will be awarded, no more than one job per neighborhood will be awarded.

First only place per participating neighborhood: The publication of the work presented and winning, in a period of time not exceeding three years from its declaration as winner.

5) COPYRIGHT:

Participation in the contest implies acceptance of the transfer of copyright for the first digital and printed edition, in the event of being one of the winners of the contest ruled by the qualifying jury. The Mayor's Office of Managua will hold these rights only for the first digital or printed edition, and the economic recognition of them is incorporated into the prizes that the winners of the contest will receive.
