The Bell Tower of Peace is ready to be inaugurated in the next few days, the Secretary General, Fidel Moreno, confirmed that since July 19 the Bell of Peace has been ringing the hope, dreams and wishes of Nicaraguan families.
The bell tower is part of the recovery project of the historic center of the capital and of the integral tourist route that among its attractions offers the Plaza 22 de Agosto, El Puente and the monument to Peace and as of this July 17 the new bell tower.
Located in the historic center of Avenida de Bolívar a Chávez, the 20-meter-high bell tower will mark the traditional Angelus chimes at 6:00 am, 12:00 pm and 6:00 pm, while from 6:00 am to 10:00 am pm the bell announces the exact time and will ring every half hour.
Moreno recalled that Commander Daniel and Compañera Rosario in recent years have been developing a series of projects to recover the memory and the historic center of the capital.
“We are in a fragment of the North Dupla, where we have developed 3 projects in recent years, only in this space, we have built the monument to peace and life, in recognition of the desire and desire for peace of our people, after We built the bridge that is part of this beautiful monument, a circular pedestrian bridge, which allows communication from Luis Alfonso Park to the Plaza de la Revolución, National Palace and all that scheme and finally the third element that is the bell tower, where there is the Bell of Peace, which rings for the dreams and hopes and hopes of our people in favor of peace, understanding and reconciliation ”.
Avenida Bolívar is part of a recreational, meeting and leisure complex that allows the Managuas to identify the historic center, walk and enjoy the platforms and the landscape, becoming an integral tourist route.
The extent of the sound of the peace bell will depend on how the wind moves, as Moreno explained.
“The sound downwind can reach 2 to 3 kilometers, depending on how strong the wind is. In the central part, the sound of the bell 500 meters around is heard in any direction. This monument is very well accepted by the Managuas, from the first moment it was completed, families come and approach, through photographs they express their impressions of this project that is in a key place in the city and that honors and recognizes the Peace, a genuine desire of all Nicaraguans, regardless of our political and religious beliefs, I believe that all of us, above all, want peace, concord, understanding and reconciliation and that is in essence the main spirit of this monument, ”Moreno stressed.
