A few hours after celebrating the Day of Happiness, workers of the Municipality made the last details to install the Bell of Peace, in the historic center of the capital on Avenida Bolívar, at dawn on July 17.
The bell tower, which is 20 meters high, already has its bronze bell installed, which has a weight of almost 8 thousand pounds (76 quintals) and a height of 1.70 meters, as confirmed by the Secretary General, Fidel Moreno, during the process. installation of the icon that pays tribute to the peace process experienced by Nicaraguan families.
“The bell will have an automated system that will announce with a chime the hours and every half hour of the day, from 6 in the morning to 10 at night and will ring the Angelus for 5 minutes at 6 in the morning, at At 12 noon and at 6 in the afternoon, we are in the final details and in the next few days, Compañera Rosario will announce the opening date ”, explained Moreno.
The bell, inscribed with the legend "Always beyond ... as brothers and sisters I will touch the hours for my homeland Nicaragua".
The bell was manufactured by a Dutch company, which has been manufacturing bells since 1862 and is the same company that manufactured the bell for the Cathedral of Managua and León, as explained by specialist Franz Drejer, who is Nicaraguan of German origin and specialist in assembly of steeples.
Drejer explained that the design and material used to make the hood is state-of-the-art.
"The most innovative thing about the bell is its sound, its musical note will be vibrant and the material is more resistant to weather conditions."
The construction of the bell tower is a little over 98 percent complete and its inauguration will be announced in the next few days.
