Municipality continues disinfection process in the Eastern market

This Sunday, May 3, the Capital Commune carried out the second day of disinfection in the Eastern market, applying the preventive hygienic sanitary measures established by the National Government directed by Commander Daniel and Vice President Rosario Murillo, to protect the health of Nicaraguan families .

The Oriental market is the largest in Central America, it has an area of 120 blocks and the municipal authorities guaranteed total disinfection coverage from south to north, throughout the shopping center.

For this historic cleaning day, which took place from 3:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., the market was divided into 5 work areas, which were attended by a brigade of 300 workers, 12 dump trucks, 45 bogies, 2 dump trucks and 4 mechanical shovels.

The Mayor of Managua, Reyna Rueda together with the Director of Public Cleaning Eliézer López and Freddy Casco, Director of the Municipal Corporation of Managua Markets (COMMEMA), explained that in this market there are 23 thousand merchants, of these, 17 thousand are fixed and To achieve cleaning in record time, a full brigade of workers and machinery was available.

"We were in the first stage sensitizing the families in the area and now disinfecting more than 120 blocks, we have 300 cleaning partners who are fixed in the market, likewise, four mechanical shovels, 12 dump trucks and 75 pumps to clean and disinfect permanently not only in the markets, but in all the centers that we serve as Mayor's Office ”.

Rueda explained that the disinfection of the markets will be permanent, with the aim of avoiding the transmission of Covid-19 and in this way, ensuring the tranquility of the thousands of buyers who daily circulate through the 8 capital markets.

For his part, Eliézer López, Director of Public Cleaning of the Mayor's Office, explained that the highest concentration of visitors occurs in 70 blocks from the East.

“We always work from south to north. We start at three in the afternoon and at five we will be finishing. We are making history, cleaning the Oriental market in record time. There are more than 120 blocks that the market comprises, but the heart of the shopping center is 70 blocks that we are serving without rest ", Lopez assured.
