400 children from the different sports academies that the Managua Mayor's Office has, together with the municipal authorities and national baseball authorities, paid tribute to the all-time hitter and hero of love Roberto Clemente, who 47 years ago offered his life for the people Nicaraguan victims of the 1972 earthquake.
“47 years ago Clemente the baseball player died, the batter with 3,000 hits, but that day the hero of solidarity was also born, of all Nicaraguans, the idol of this town. A man who pushed young people to always give their best and climb to the big leagues like him, that is why he is an example and a light for all children who also love baseball, ”said the Vice Mayor of Managua, Enrique Armas.
A flower for Clemente and floral offerings for future generations of Nicaraguan baseball is the way to tell Roberto Clemente that this people love and venerate him, Armas said.
For their part, the members of the Guardabarranco Environmentalist Movement carried out a reforestation day in the Dupla Norte sector, in front of Plaza 22 de Agosto, as a symbol of admiration and respect for legendary baseball player Roberto Clemente.
