Central American Basketball Championship U-14 culminates with good expectations

For 5 days, the euphoria and adrenaline of basketball, produced by the Central American U-14 Championship for Women and Men, was experienced again at the Alexis Argüello Sports Center.

This championship concluded this Sunday, November 10, with the games between Nicaragua and Panama in men, and in women the last game was between Nicaragua and Costa Rica, where the Nicaraguan team made a comeback in a great match in which they won 43 points against 42 , to the Costa Rica team, which was ranked as the leader of the women's group.

Already in the awards with the games won and the sum of the points, in the men's championship the bronze medal was obtained by El Salvador, the silver medal was won by Costa Rica and Panama reached the Gold of this championship.

Also, in the male branch, the Ideal Quintets of the Championship were awarded where 3 players from Costa Rica, one from Panama and one from El Salvador were awarded; The tournament's Top Scorer award went to Costa Rican Saúl Martínez and the Most Valuable Player went to Sebastián Bosques from Panama.

In women, the Costa Rican team led the group followed by Guatemala and El Salvador in third place. The Ideal Quintet of the women's branch of the Championship was awarded to the young Nicaraguan Shiannie Brishanty Hebbert, 2 players from Costa Rica, one from El Salvador and one from Panama; The award for the Top Scorer of the tournament was Valeria Batista from Panama and the Most Valuable Player went to the Costa Rican María Monteros.

The award was made by Mr. Mario Méndez, President of COCABA, comrade Enrique Armas Rosales, Vice Mayor of Managua, and Nicaraguan basketball legend Germán Mullins.

Mr. Mario Méndez, President of the Central American Basketball Confederation (COCABA), was very satisfied with the service provided by the host country and congratulated the Good Government for the determined support it provides to the sport.

For his part, Vice Mayor Enrique Armas stated that COCABA and FIBA found that Managua has a spectacular gymnasium for the development of sports competitions, so these sports institutions will bring new events of international stature to the Alexis Argüello Sports Center.
