Managua participates in the National Contest "The Cleanest Municipality"

From the fourth stage of the Hialeah neighborhood in District I, the Mayor of Managua made the official launch of the contest "The Cleanest Municipality", the objective of the contest is to achieve a national effort in defense of the environment and mother earth.

In the Hialeah neighborhood a pilot project will be carried out to promote an “Environmental Education for Life”, with this motto the Municipality will carry out a campaign directed at 155 families from the fourth stage of the neighborhood, Reyna Rueda, Mayor of Managua, ratified the permanent commitment of the Local Government for reducing pollution.

"In search of developing an environmental improvement in the neighborhoods of Managua, we chose this neighborhood to start a pilot phase of the" Environmental Education for Life "campaign, it has 06 environmental components: 1-Environmental Training, 2-Awareness Day, 3-Cleaning Days, 4-Reforestation Days, 5-Calache Plan and 6 the Educational Contest "Ecological Mural" at the Benito Juárez School aimed at students and their parents ".

This pilot phase will have an area of action of 1,445 linear meters, in the area of influence of the Los Duartes micro dam.

Rueda explained that an Environmental Brigade will be formed in the neighborhood to train on the following topics: entrepreneurship, air pollution, pollution and the proper management of solid and liquid waste.

Twenty youth from the Guardabarranco Environmental Movement, 10 Environmental Brigades, 30 Ecological Brigades and 5 Environmental Promoters will participate in the trainings.

Julián Rodríguez, a member of the Guardabarranco group, highlighted the support that this movement provides to the campaign.

“It is our responsibility to work today to reduce environmental pollution today and thus guarantee tomorrow for our future generations, a healthy environment, full of natural resources, that provide health and life to the rest of the ecosystem.
