Comrade Fidel Moreno Briones, Secretary General of the Mayor's Office of Managua, supervised the progress of the La Primavera riverbed stabilization project, in its sixth stage of execution, which will take place in 2019.
During this supervision visit, comrade Fidel Moreno explained that this project directly benefits 2 thousand families that live near the slopes of this riverbed, which has been developing since 2013, the period from which they have been executed. 6 construction stages, covering 696 linear meters of riverbed and the construction of 2 vehicular bridges.
He explained that this project began with the stabilization of the channel in the bridge sector, from the Brewery to the North highway, which was the most vulnerable area, where the first 5 stages of the lining were executed; later in 2018, protection works were carried out in a section of the riverbed and in this year 2019, the sixth stage is executed with the definitive works on 110 linear meters of riverbed and the construction of the second pedestrian bridge, with another 6 stages pending which will be carried out in subsequent years to complete the stabilization of 1.5 kilometers of riverbed, which must be lined in this important storm drain in the capital.
Comrade Fidel Moreno said that the sixth stage of this project is expected to end in the second half of May and stated that the Mayor's Office of the Citizen Power of Managua has invested a little more than 60 million Córdobas in the execution of this work, that improves the living conditions of the 2 thousand families that live near the riverbed, in addition to those who live south of it, that with the lining of this riverbed other drainage projects can be developed in the capital.
