In celebration of the ninth anniversary of having become the first country to sign the Universal Declaration of the Conservation of Our Mother Earth, the Mayor's Office of the Citizen Power of Managua carried out a cleanup and environmental awareness day on the slopes of the Nejapa lagoon.
In this day of cleaning and environmental awareness, comrade Reyna Rueda, Mayor of Managua, was present, together with Public Cleaning workers from the Municipality, young people from the Guardabarranco Environmental Movement, members of the Ecological Battalion of the Nicaraguan Army and the organized community, who they set out to clean up the western slope of the lagoon.
Mayor Reyna Rueda expressed Good Government's commitment to the conservation and protection of the environment and our natural resources; He also stated that this awareness and cleaning day is the first of many that will be carried out in greeting to the universal declaration of the conservation of our Mother Earth.
Likewise, he thanked the families who joined in this commendable work for the common good and stressed the importance of the articulation of the community and the institutions involved to guarantee the success of this environmental action; The day had the participation of 96 people, who were divided into 4 groups to clean 1,400 linear meters of the slope of the Nejapa lagoon.
