This Sunday 80 cyclists covered a little more than 108 kilometers, contemplated in the circuit of the competition "Cyclists for Peace", the competitors left the old National Baseball Stadium in Managua towards the municipalities of Mateare, La Paz Centro and Ruinas de Old Lion.
The sporting event was organized by the Managua Mayor's Office, in coordination with the Nicaraguan Cycling Federation (FNC).
The starting flag was given by the Mayor of the capital Reyna Rueda, who stressed that the development of sport in all its disciplines has reached a great boom thanks to the coordinated work between the Central Government, the mayors and the sports federations.
“We have a government that has been permanently supporting all athletes; after the Central American Games we discovered new sports talents in the country. Today we start the first cycling tour, with this beautiful competition for peace and on December 9 and 16 we will carry out two other circuits in the Puerto Salvador Allende sector, to continue motivating the new generation of sport that will fill our country with glory. country".
National and foreign federation members participated in the event, who prepared to demonstrate their pedaling skills and be crowned as the most outstanding of the competition, according to the discipline in which they registered.
“The event was very nice and we thank the Mayor of Managua for supporting the sport, for five years I have participated in cycling, a sport that requires a lot of discipline, so much so that I train six days a week and here we are joining the sport What is the most important", Evertz Mendieta said.
André Petrocheli, a cyclist of Italian origin, commented that he has lived in Nicaragua for a year and likes to see how cycling is promoted. “I have been riding a bicycle for more than 30 years and the truth is that it is a complete intense sport and I think it is excellent that it is promoted in the country, because here you get distracted and the good thing is that Nicaragua has good roads, much more beautiful than those of Spain and Italy, I see the new overpass very nice and suitable for sports ”.
The Nicaraguan Cycling Federation in recent years has managed to attract new talents, it has also managed to reach new spaces and conditions to organize municipal, departmental and national competitions such as this weekend.
