Capital commune holds altars contest in its tenth edition

The Mayor's Office of Managua holds for 10 consecutive years the “Contest of Altars in Honor of the Immaculate Conception of Mary 2018”, which will take place on December 7, Screaming Day.

Since November 5 to date, 200 contestants have registered, registrations close on November 30.

To choose the grandores, a qualifying jury made up of 14 members will go through the 7 districts of the capital in pairs, starting at 6 in the afternoon simultaneously, this was confirmed by Reyna Rueda, Mayor of Managua.

“We thank God and the people who allow us to accompany him for 10 consecutive years in this traditional contest that honors our mother the Blessed Virgin Mary, the elements that are going to be valued are first of all all the elements used for the elaboration, they must be traditional (strawberry tree, natural flowers of the time, palm, etc.) the design must have a biblical theme or concept, this will allow the devotees of the Virgin to open the doors to creativity "

At the beginning of the cry, Who Causes So Much Joy? The Conception of Mary! The jurors will walk the streets of the capital to evaluate the registered altars.

The contest will choose three finalists by districts (first place, second place and third place) will be 21 winners in total and the prize will be in cash of C$9,000 for the first place, C$7000 for the second place and C$5000 for the third place.

In the last two years 2016 and 2017, 300 altars were registered, this year we have 200 altars to date.
