Representatives of professional engineering and architecture associations in the country took a tour of the mega-infrastructure of the new Las Piedrecitas Desnivel Pass, to assess its scope.
Specialists in engineering works and owners of construction companies, members of the Nicaraguan Chamber in the company of the Secretary General, Fidel Moreno, toured the facilities, prior to its inauguration on November 30.
During the visit were present the engineer Carlos Fernández, President of the Nicaraguan Association of Engineers and Architects ANIA; the engineer Jorge Corea Torres, president of the College of Engineers of Nicaragua; the dean of the Faculty of Architecture of the National University of Engineering (UNI), Luis Chávez Quintero and the dean of the Faculty of Technology and Construction of the UNI, Óscar Gutiérrez.
El Paso a Desnivel with its high quality design, safety and scenic beauty, not only changes the face of the capital, but also transports Nicaragua to the new era of construction and modernism, as stated by engineer Óscar Gutiérrez, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at UNI.
“This is a monumental work that puts Nicaragua at the forefront of development, the important thing about the work is the place where it was built, this shows the capacity and creativity of our talented engineers, this work has piles that support not only the weight, if not also that it has movement isolators, to face seismic movements ”.
The new road infrastructure is capable of facing earthquakes of up to 7 degrees, because it meets the international quality standards indicated for this type of works, as stated by engineer Carlos Corea Torres, president of the Nicaraguan College of Engineers.
“It is admirable that this work has been built with the Mayor's own funds. Managua is changing for the better, this bridge in terms of infrastructure is innovative, its design is impressive and the technology used to isolate the movement will allow it to withstand earthquakes above 7 degrees on the Richter scale ”.
The Secretary General, Fidel Moreno, expressed that the evaluation of the specialists is of great importance.
"The construction of the work is already finished and ornamentation works are being carried out, installation of the lighting system that has 80 percent, is practically in its final details and by November 30 we will be inaugurating without any problem."
Moreno explained that the bridge will not be able to be used 100 percent because the construction of the 7 Sur Overpass has not finished, only the bridge that comes from the new highway to León towards the lake will be able to be used.
