Authorities from the Mayor's Office of the Citizen Power of Managua made a tour of the streets of the capital, verifying the level of damage caused by the rains on Thursday and Friday, September 28 and 29, respectively.
On this tour, comrade Fidel Moreno Briones, Secretary General of the Commune, announced that the rain of this Friday, September 29, was registered with greater force in District 5, located in the southeast area of the capital, where there was no major impacts, he also said that in the eastern channel there was a slight overflow, for a space of approximately 5 minutes; In the MAGFOR sector, there was almost a meter of water, where there is a ford that directs the water towards a channel.
He also said that 16 houses with self-denials were preliminarily counted, in this rain that was less than that of Thursday, September 28, which was characterized as a very strong rain, concentrated in a small area, where 100 millimeters of water were recorded in the Hialeah sector and the Suburbana road, which drained into the Plaza España sector, where it caused the greatest damage.
This evaluation tour was combined with the supervision of the works being carried out in the areas affected by the rain this Thursday, which affected the area of the Military Hospital, BANPRO, on the Benjamín Zeledón track, MABALE sector, the Nations track United and concluded at the headquarters of the Nicaraguan Chamber of Industry and the Nicaraguan Chamber of Commerce, where comrade Fidel Moreno Briones stated that the drainage is very small, with more than 50 years and that although they are clean, they are not They have the capacity for the volume of water it received in the rain this Thursday; Therefore, he said that they are working in 2 directions, first in specific actions such as attending the emergency and cleaning the cleaning drains, where 1 thousand workers have been arranged in this work.
He also said that more investment has to be made in drainage, so that at the end of this year, the Drainage Master Plan of the capital city will be presented, which aims to schedule drainage investments for the next 20 years.
For his part, Mr. Sergio Maltez, President of CADIN, stated that there were no material losses in the building because it gave them time to evacuate the electronic equipment and furniture, which he did estimate that there would be subsequent damage to the walls, due to the material from the same; He also thanked the building authorities for their visit and support, with whom they shared the different alternative solutions.
