Mayor's Office stabilizes the channel of the Domitila Lugo neighborhood

The capital's commune stabilized and covered with hydraulic concrete the channel of the Domitila Lugo neighborhood of District IV, with this drainage work a critical point of the capital was eliminated, benefiting 80 families who live along the channel.

The project has been carried out in two stages, the first began in 2016 and the second in this year with a total investment of 15 million córdobas, Reyna Rueda, Secretary of the Managua Council, explained that during 2017, the commune carried out 126 storm drainage projects.

“We are very happy to deliver this work to the community, which directly restores the safety of 13 families, out of 80, who live along the riverbed; In this second stage, 126 linear meters were covered with an investment of 7 million 800 thousand córdobas and last year 112 meters were covered in the first phase, with an investment of 7 million 600 thousand córdobas for a total of 15 million ”.

The municipality in 2017 is investing 208 million córdobas in 126 storm drainage projects that benefit neighborhoods such as La Primavera in District VI, Pilot Project in District V, Marcos Somarriba District III and Domitila Lugo, among others.

With the lining of the channel, 13 families that were flooded will no longer be affected by the rains in winter time, the channel of the Domitila Lugo has almost 400 linear meters and to completely cover it, a third stage will have to be carried out in 2018, which it is being planned for next year's Annual Investment Plan.

Rosa Argentina Bermúdez and her family have lived in the neighborhood for 30 years and are one of the beneficiary families.

"Now we will be better, the water will no longer run inside the houses and it will not remain stagnant in the patios, one did not sleep because the land could collapse, but thanks to the Commander's government that fear will never return" Bermúdez said.
